Who can get the lap band surgery?

Of course, it is an easy way to lose weight but it is recommended for people who have:

• body mass index (BMI) is 35 or above
• health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure.
• Heart disease.
• failed to lose weight through diet or exercise.

What to do after surgery?

• For the first 4 weeks, diet is only water, juices, and soups.
• after the end of 4 weeks, foods such as yogurt and blended vegetables can be eaten.
• From 4 to 6 weeks, food which don’t need strong digestion are acceptable.
• After 6 weeks, the person can start a normal, healthy diet.

Does the lap band have any risks?

As with any surgery, there are risks that occur after the operation, including:

• band slipping.
• the body’s failure to accept the inflatable band, which leads to stomach problems.
• The port can shift, making additional surgery necessary.

You can avoid the risks if you maintain a balanced and healthy diet and do more exercise.
